|Memories, pictures, and testimonials from our past shows|
We kicked off the summer of 2005 in grand style, once again. We had a smaller crowd this year (over 300), due to the nearby music festivals and other events that occurred just prior to the con this year. It was held in the wonderful Doubtree Roswell Hotel, and we had a blast. Friday the con was started by the great Atlanta Radio Theater Company followed by Hyperdrive and Space Seed.
We had 10 guests which included Mitchell Graham, Cindy Morgan, and many others. The fan clubs came out in force which filled the fan area with such groups as ASFS, Klingon Assault Group, Atlanta Stargaters, and others. Lots of great movies and video's including a Spy Theme list on Friday night, and a lot of great 16mm episodes from many TV shows, as well as a showing of Tron 20th anniversary edition. We had a huge turnout for gaming to play games from Steve Jackson Games, Looney Labs, Wiz Kids, and many other vendors. Power Up Games brought some great pinball and video arcade games which were free to play! This had an interesting selection of dealers from GA and the US southeast, such as Dragon's Horde, Digital Illusions, Atlantis Pearl, T&K Jewelry, and many others.
There were great room parties both Friday and Saturday night, hosted by Kevin S., Hallowcon, ASFS, Stargaters.
We kicked off the summer of 2004 in grand style. With the largest crowd we have ever had (over 600) and in the wonderful Crowne Plaza Powers Ferry Landing Hotel, we had a blast. Friday the con was started by the great Atlanta Radio Theater Company followed by Celtic band Emerald Rose. There were many first's this year. This was the first year we had multiple program tracks (which were all very well attended), the first time we premiered nationally released movies (Behold the Raven, and new clips from Miss Maniac), and many others.
We had 20 guests which included John Ringo, Donald Farmer, and many others. The fan clubs came out in force which filled the fan area with such groups as Starfleet, Klingon Assault Group, Atlanta Stargaters, and others. Lot's of great movies and video's including Dark Side of the Rainbow (Watch the original Wizard of Oz while listening to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Many strange coincidences). We had a huge turnout for gaming to play games from Steve Jackson Games, Holistic Design, and many other vendors. Power Up Games brought some great pinball and video arcade games which were free to play! This was the largest dealers room we ever had with many dealers from around the southeast.
The art show had over 25 artists from around the country and we exhibited over 600 pieces of art. In addition to the traditional mediums we had art made on computer and jewelry. One of the biggest hits of the whole con was the hotel itself. Many attendees took the time to tell us they were very pleased at the quality of the rooms especially at the low convention rate. There were great room parties both Friday and Saturday night and the winner of the best party went to Kevin "The bartender". He won $50, a "Best party" certificate and two memberships to Sci-Fi Summer 2005.

This by far our best show ever. We had a new management team that really knew how to promote and put on a great show. We were once again in the Double Tree hotel. The con had approximately 500 attendees which is more than the first two Sci-Fi Summers combined. This shows the fan momentum behind the show is really gaining speed. We had about 10 guests that included authors, series directors, model builders, and musicians. We had many dealers and fan clubs from around the area. It was an excellent way to start the summer of fandom in 2003! Below are some pictures and fan reports from the show.
BUSINESS NOTE - SCI FI SUMMER CON was established as the new name for the con in 2003. It was registered as a trade name in Gwinnett County, GA, in Feb 2004.
This was our second year of the con and the first year at the Double tree hotel. George Lowe returned as our main guest and we all had a great time. Below are some pictures and fan reports from the show.
The year we started it all. Sci-Fi Summer was launched with the idea of having a great show at the end of the school year/beginning of summer time frame where we could all let loose and have a great time. George Lowe who is the voice of Space Ghost was our main guest and the fans responded well.
