We have received many good demo games from Rio Grande, Fantasy Flight, and Twilight Creations. Thanks to those companies for sending us the demo products for our gaming room this year!

Many pages updated. We have attended and promoted at many conventions like Conooga, Momocon, and so forth.
Costume Contest themes are - Alien Invaders, Space Travelers, and Undead! similarly, the vid rooms themes will match the costume contest themes. Art Jam Again for saturday morning. Comix art jam again for sunday morning! Bands are NY Disco Villians, Witness the Apotheosis, and Go Robo Go!, and the rave run by June5, this year the rave will be run on Saturday night after Sci fi coffee house.

Contests reminders - there are a few contests planned for this year - Costume contests with this year's themes of Alien invaders, Time travelers, and Undead; Sci Fi coffee house open mic, bring your raybans and berets, but instead of poetry it will be limericks judging based on the limerick and the delivery; Sci fi sexy pants, most sexy or stylish pants or underwear of any kind, except thongs (no thongs allowed).

Guestspeaker list is builing for 2011. A good full mix of actors, artists, authors, and performers. Still working on updates for the movies, panels, events, location/hotel, and schedule page.
SPACE MERCENARY CORPS INFOMERCIAL, the first part of the SCI FI SUMMER GIRL sequel was completed in 2010. Still working on completion of the sequel, tho. Space Mercs vids and info can be found on many places on the web, to include Facebook, and film contests on yourindiefilm.com and reeldemic.com. Please go and vote for our films there, if you can.
We have recently been to Trex Trax Con and Connooga, and this weekend to Anachrocon. Many more good local cons coming up that we will be attending, such as Momocon, and others TBA.

Important correction: on the location page, at one part, the sleeping room cost read $85, when in fact it is - $69 - for standard kings and doubles.

Confirmed more guestspeakers. Updates were made to the guests page, events page, tables page, and a few more updates to go, such as the panels page, movies page, and schedule page.
A recent correction to the events page was the costume contest, now properly reflecting the -tempestuous 2000s- costume contest. we even challenge for a sci fi summer girl, amadeus the lizard, or space merc lookalikes for the contest, for those who know who have seen the sfs girl movie.
Dealers room is full! Still waiting on a few more programming items to confirm, then programming will be locked as well.
More scenes for SFSG2 were shot, and more of those to come. first third of the film shooting is almost completed.

More scenes for SFSG2 were shot after the recent con staff meeting, and a few more last week. More of those to come.
Sfscon and SFSG had a presense at Connooga and Momocon, and plans to have a presense at Joe-lanta, Anachrocon, and a few more shows as well!

Confirmed more guestspeakers. Hotel confirmed! It is not the same location as last year, but instead the Crowne Plaza Powers Ferry, ATL NW (I285 and Northside Dr). Much info on the hotel posted on the location page, with more to come. Hotel sleeping rooms are already available to reserve, and that info and live link are on the location page as well.
"Sci Fi Summer Girl's Off Day" film is now in IMDB. Deluxe DVD is also for sale, some details are on the merchandise page. SFSG1 film may also be played at the Atlanta Film Festival in April 2010, awaiting final notification of that.
Sequel film to SFSG1 already commenced, and to be produced in segments.

Conchair and crew Mark Rudge, Fox Fleet, and Sassparilla shot commercials for submission to GA Powerball. They didnt win but were fun to make. Samples of them can be found here=

Picked up a couple of guestspeakers in the last couple of months, including a new artist guestspeaker that almost made it for this year's show, named Kerry Maffeo. See her info on the guests page.
Some of us attended Dragoncon2009 and AWA2009. The Deluxe DVD of "Sci Fi Summer Girl's Off Day" was ready (thanks Jesse), and was premiered at a couple of locations at DC2009. The DVD turned out very well, for a first product of its type for us. Got a copy for review to Macabremansion.com folks. Looking forward to seeing what they have to say about it.
Made a pretty big splash with the SFSG1 DVD at AWA. S. Fox was there in costume, and did a headstand (also in costume) near our table! Impressive.
Submitted it to IMDB and a couple of other sites as well.
Still working out hotel details for 2010 show. Going pretty slow, tho.

2 days left to the 2009 convention!
There are just a couple of hotel rooms left available to reserve at the convention hotel.

We have more going on than we originally thought that we could! lots of stuff to see and do, and this year there will be for the first time a special confection vendor in the parking lot, from theslicedbreadcompany.com
If we didnt mention it before, the hotel finally got a new ATM, located near the restrooms on the ground floor of the hotel.
We have multiple sponsors for the trivia, charity texas holdem, and costume contests, to include Comcast, HDI, Meow Comics, Dramagirl Designs.
Expect possible multiple surprise swag attacks thruout the con weekend.

PRESS RELEASE - We recently released a trailer for the new SFSC short film 'SFS GIRL'S OFF DAY', plus a other fun items, on Youtube. there is a page to read and see more about it, [ HERE ]. it's cast and crew were diverse, but included some of the guest speakers for this year's show, such as Adrian havens, Mark Rudge, and Sassparillla the Singing Gorilla. We recently quietly shot our first dramatic/action/scifi short film in Marietta. more info to come on that. Due to schedule conflicts Blake Myers and BCB had to drop out. But, we picked up more requests from bands to perform, such as Extraordinary Contraptions, who may play an accoustic set!

We have confirmed more guests now, such as actor Daniel Taylor, Artist Ivan Reyes. Jendayi will be returning to show us some more on the fine art of belly dancing!
We recently received requests for a couple of indy movies showing late night, such as Hell-phone, and DanceoftheDead.

We have picked up more dealers now, and the dealer's room is 70 percent sold already! so, if there are any other dealers out there that want to get tables, now is the time to inquire about them. At this rate, the dealers room will be sold out by March.
We also have just a few fan tables left. USS Republic recently got their fan table for 2009.
We recently picked up a couple more local guests, and still talking with a few other possible guests for the 2009 show, such as James jarrett, and Cemetary surfers. We will post more about them as they confirm, but, there is plenty to view on the guests page at this point, and we will be updating the profiles of the guests that have confirmed. Recent addition is JACjune5, returning from last year, and will run our first Rave, slated for friday late night of the con.
The convention was confirmed a few months ago, and happy to confirm to all that it will be the same hotel as last year, the crowne plaza atlanta-marietta, in marietta, right off of the south end 120 loop and i-75.
We also have a couple of 'secret projects' in the works, more on those as appropriate.

We have attended a few other shows by now, such as dragoncon2008 and awa2008. At awa2008, we had a table, got memberships and tables, had fun, and passed out some good swag for all to enjoy. One of the attendees that we saw was harassed by a cobb policeman about his props near our table, that was unfortunate. We reported the policeman's conduct to the conchair.
We have picked up some dealers by now, with some returning from 2008 show, such as yuki pearl and meow comics.
Also, one of our dealers from the 2008 show, robertstikmanz.com, sent us this nice and thematic card during his travels. A big thanks to Robert for the card!
We recently received our first fan request for running a panel, to be done by Pennydreadful steampunk group. There will be return of some standard panels, such as authors , artists, and comics panels, plus a couple from 2008 that may return, and we will have that confirmed soon.
Some guest speakers and performers that have confirmed are Hyperdrive, Sean Taylor, and the folks from Roswell ghost tours.

Website updates to the schedule page, movies page, guests page. Soon the schedule will be completed and posted! It will be a good mix of programming to be sure, to include games, panels, contests, and more. More good gaming activities have been added, brought by The Tower Games in Gwinnett.
The movies page is 99 percent complete, including anime listings.
We promoted sfscon08 at the Atlanta rollergirls derby Saturday the 10th at the Shriners Temple, it was much fun. one match was good and the other was almost a blow-out.
If anyone noticed the lizard on the main page, he is our new mascot for this year. He actually started out as a house guard, and became the 'mascot's mascot', a sidekick of SFSCGirl. His name is Amadeus the Anole, the sci-fi faring lizard. Another picture is here.

The movies page will finally soon be finalized and posted. a good mix of subjects, from serious to silly.
We will be promoting sfscon08 at the Atlanta rollergirls derby Saturday the 10th at the Shriners Temple, it looks to be a good match, go to their site and see. then, at Timegatecon, and Deadpiratesuncon (at the Wesley inn on VA Ave and I-85) on Memorial holiday weekend.
We were recently contacted for cross promotion by the Center for puppetry arts, who are having a weekend of adult programming (18+) coming up (May 15-18).
We recently picked up another band, called the Cemetery Surfers for the 08 show.
We have added a Texas holdem charity tournament, with the donations going to the Shriners burn hospital, see more about it on the events page.
The Last day for 08 con preregistration is 20 May, and the Cut-off for hotel room registration is the last week in May, so dont wait, get your hotel soon! also, if you use a discount service to book your hotel room, please let us know in an email or at the con, and what kind of deal you got. we are always interested in that kinda info! If you havent already, see the location page for all the details.

We are very close to the finalized 80s vid list. It is shaping up pretty nicely, to include some great indie stuff as well! Friday night's list will be called the 'hobbitothon!'. There will be some interesting late night selections as well, such as the special cut of From Beyond, as well as some good stand-bys.
There is some special programming planned for this year, promoting the 20th anniversary of the USS Republic, a local Atlanta Star Trek fan club. There is a brief description on the Events page, as well as the Panels page, as well as a new link to the tentative schedule of that programming. Recognition to Eric W. and his crew for putting this together!
Along with the Star Trek theme this year, there are some Klingon Games planned, being put together by the fine members of the Arrow QeyHa!
We recently received a drawing of a character created by the con chair back in 04 for the MysteryMen Costume contest. The drawing was done by our last artist guest Mark Helwig. Thanks Mark for that! To see a larger pic of it, click the pic below.

We have been working on our vid list, and it is almost complete, and a good list it will be! when it is finalized, we will post it.
We attended Anime Weekend Atlanta 2007 to represent for SFSC, and had a great time! thanks to all staffers who helped out with that. speaking of that, we picked up a few new staff members, and welcome to those new staff members! a big thanks to lloyd and his crew who ran a good show this year, including a good fan table area.
We have added a new mascot as a pet for SFSC girl! It is a green lizard with shades for summer. the idea came as an anole (american chameleon) was seen perched in the water spout of a hanging planter. how it got there isn't still quite known. click [THIS LINK] to see a pic of it.
