ALL EVENTS / PANELS MUST BE OF NO HIGHER THAN PG-13 RATED UNTIL 8PM, EACH DAY. ALSO TO THAT, APPROPRIATE CLOTHING MUST BE WORN IN THE PUBLIC AREAS.
(Yes, that's a drag, but SFSC isn't one of the 'kinky cons')

THESE EVENTS ARE -ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK- EVENTS, AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A WAIVER PRIOR TO PLAY.
WEARING GLASSES OF ANY TYPE ARENT RECOMMENDED IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, AT THESE EVENTS. THE CONVENTION ISNT RESPONSIBLE FOR BROKEN SPECTACLES.
IF YOU ARE NOT PARTICIPATING IN THE PHYSICAL EVENTS, PLEASE DO NOT PICK UP WEAPONS OR ENTER THE COMBAT / TARGET AREAS. THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF OTHERS.
THESE ARE ONLY SIMULATIONS, MEANT FOR FUN FOR ALL CONCERNED. ANY ACT OF REAL VIOLENCE OR ABUSE OF OR IN THESE ACTIVITIES WILL RESULT IN THE ABUSER GETTING BOOTED / BANNED FROM THE ACTIVITY, AND POSSIBLY THE CONVENTION AS WELL.

ART Drawing Jam

Grab your sketchbooks, folks! SFSCon Drawing Jam will be setting up shop on Saturday morning in the prefunction area, around 11am, and last about an hour.
Traditionally coffee-house based event in the Atlanta-area, this drawing jam is a chance to meet with other budding artists here at Sci-Fi Summer Con.
Come sit down and do what we do best in a free for all sketch-a-thon. All skill levels and styles are welcome, so dont be shy.
Constructive criticism will be available, as well as tips, tricks, and several excersizes to help get you in the groove. Hosts this year will be artists Kerry Maffeo and Jon Adelung, as well as other interested artists.

Mercenary Battles: Beat a Ferengi for Fun & Profit! (BOFFER BATTLES!)

Like to pick up a sword and really lay in?? Actually in this case, virtual swords made of foam... But still great fun nonetheless!!
COMMON SENSE RULES: FULL COVERING IS REQUIRED - KNEE AND ELBO PADS, OR LONG SLEEVES AND PANTS, AND A SOFT CAP WITHOUT A BRIM.
FOR THOSE THAT ARE REALLY INTO PROTECTION, A BOXING HELMET OR MOTOCYCLE HELMET (BICYCLE HELMETS ARE ALMOST WORTHLESS PROTECTION IN THIS EVENT).
WHEN IN THIS EVENT, YOU MAY ONLY ATTACK FELLOW COMBATANTS.
REACHING OUT AND STRIKING NON COMBATANTS WILL GET YOU BOOTED OUT OF THE EVENT. ALSO, PARTICIPANTS CAN ONLY PLAY THIS EVENT IN THE AREA SETUP FOR THIS EVENT BY THE CON.
ALL BOFFER WEAPONS WILL BE INSPECTED BEFORE USE AT THE SHOW. NO REAL WEAPONS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED.
THIS EVENT ONLY SIMULATES VIOLENCE, IT ISNT A BOXING RING. ANYONE TRYING TO COMMITT VIOLENT OR ABUSIVE ACTS (SUCH AS BEATING SOMEONE ON THE GROUND), WILL BE BOOTED FROM THE EVENT, AND POSSIBLY FROM THE CON.

CD DISCUS!

By popular response and demand, this event is returning for SFSC 2017. Bring your favorite or unfavorite (as the case may be) CDs to fling at the target. Lots of fun and stress relief! Aim them into the small, medium, and large size holes for points, or just for fun, as you like... The same rules apply as last year. At the end, we'll count up the points and decide who gets the 'AOHELLL CD Annihilator' title for the convention.
COMMON SENSE RULES: NO FLINGING THE CD'S AT PEOPLE, PROPERTY, OR ANYWHERE OUTSIDE THE COMPETITION AREA. YOUR TOYS WILL BE TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU IF YOU DO.

COMIX ART Drawing Jam

LASER TAG!

This year it is a BYOG or bring your own gear event.

There is no cost to play, and equipment will be provided. For those of you who'd like to bring your own, the game will be played using the Hasbro Lazer Tag systems. Come see how you rate on the infrared field of honor.

NERF GUN TARGET SHOOT!

Nerf machine guns, bazookas, and pistols are some of the weapons used to hurl nerf darts at the targets of CPT KIRK, LUKE S., JAR JAR, in this event.
COMMOM SENSE RULES: NO SHOOTING NERF DARTS, OR ANY OTHER PROJECTILE FOR THAT MATTER, AT ANY NON COMBATANTS! THIS EVENT IS A NON-CONTACT SPORT. NO BODY BLOCKING OR GRAPPLING IS ALLOWED. ALSO, SAFETY GEAR IS REQUIRED, TO PARTICIPATE - SAFETY GOGGLES. ALSO, FULL COVERING IS REQUIRED - KNEE AND ELBO PADS, AND A SOFT CAP, OR LONG SLEEVES AND PANTS.

HEROES, VILLAINS, MONSTERS COSTUME CONTEST!

Come and show us your best hero / villain, or monster character! ( character from a story or movie involving one of those) be prepared to give a description of which character it is and where they are from. Extra points may be given if someone comes up with a good version of Sci fi summer girl, Amadeus Anole, or a Space Mercenary...

Prize support for the contests so far this year are TBS... to be a surprise, unless a sponsor requests otherwise...

RAVE! RAVE! RAVE!

JAC, from June Five Will be hosting a Rave. on Saturday night around 10 pm.
Featuring a few classics and new tracks. There will be lots of different genres From industrial, to hardcore.
To Keep everything simple and fun for everyone there are a few rules to must be followed by all attendees:
-No Food or Drink on the dance floor -Any food or drinks must be in full plastic containment. No Glass
Glow-sticking is allowed but must be done in the back of the room, and any strings under 2 ft, and Not under the chandeliers.
No Large Props.
No unwanted physical contact, no fighting, simulated or otherwise.
Don't mess around with any of my equipment.
If asked to stop doing something, Stop.

The con rules still apply in here. So make sure you're familiar with them.
Any one violating these rules will be confronted and told to stop unless other action is needed, second time you're out. You are responsible for any possible property damage you cause.

SUPER SOAKER DUELS!

THIS HAS BECOME A B.Y.O.G. (BRING YOUR OWN GEAR) EVENT, THO WE WILL HAVE A FEW S.S. GUNS.
Challenge your friends and enemies to a duel - a Super Soaker duel, that is. Truely like what it sounds - back to back, and when told, march 20 paces, turn, and hose'em down!

COMMON SENSE RULES: NO SHOOTING ANYONE NOT IN THE DUELS. NOTHING OTHER THAN STRAIGHT WATER (TAP OR BOTTLE) IS ALLOWED TO BE USED. SAFETY GOGGLES ARE REQUIRED.
IF YOU ACT UNCOOL WITH THIS OR BREAK THESE RULES, YOUR TOYS WILL BE TAKEN AND YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN THIS EVENT (AT THE MINIMUM)

SWAG - SWAG - SWAG!

Again this year we are again looking at having a good bunch of motion picture promotional items for give away during and/or at the end of the con!

Also, there again will be many freebie tables for groups, companies, etc, to put out literature and even more swag! Those freebies of course can only be legal, no higher than PG-13 in nature (before 9pm), and non-political in nature. Feel free to put out stuff about your groups or companies, or both, on these tables.

TEXAS HOLDEM CHARITY TOURNEY

This year again there will be some texas holdem action at SFSC. A possible sit-and-go game on Friday night in the con-suite, and the tournament on saturday afternoon / evening 4pm-8pm. On friday night please ask the con-suite director about it or the event runner who will be available.

Donations are optional and go to the Shriners Burn Hospital, run by the GA Shriners, so please learn more and help out if and when you can!
There will be some semi-fabulous prizes available to the winners.
Note: this isNOT a gambling event. It is for fun, entertainment, and Promotion / Awareness of a good charity only. There wont be any money or substantial money-equivalent prize awarded at this event / activity.

If you played last year and are interested in participating in the charity texas holdem this year, or missed out last year and would like to play this year, please send us an email requesting to participate ahead of time, as you can, and the sooner the better! We would like to see how much interest there is in this event for this year.
